Jack's Story

Jack was born with a large lump on his face that required Neurosurgery and Craniofacial reconstruction. His head did not form correctly, leaving a hole at the top of his nose and between his eyes, where his brain herniated, known as an encephalocele.

In what is believed to be a world first procedure the Craniofacial team at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne removed the encephalocele and successfully rebuilt Jack’s face.

Jack has returned to his island home in Vanuatu and can now lead a normal life.
